Pte J.A. Grant D.C.M.

Private J.A. Grant, D.L.I., of South Shields, nephew of Mr and Mrs Storey, shoe repairers, 78 Westoe Road, was awarded the D.C.M. about two months ago for rescuing and attending the wounded under intense fire and showing great courage. Prior to the war he worked at St. Hilda Colliery as a putter.
