Bracey, A.H., Pte., 1916

In Grove Town Cemetery, Meaulte is the Commonwealth War Grave of 6155 Private Arthur H. Bracey, serving with the 9th (Glasgow Highland) Battalion (Territorial) Highland Light Infantry who died 28/12/1916.

He had enlisted at Chester-le-Street and resided at Pelton in Co. Durham. Married to his wife L. Bracey.

He died of wounds on the 28/12/1916. However, his death was recorded in the South Shields Gazette, and was reported as living at the time in 34 Bewick Street, South Shields. Prior to the War he was a gardener.

He is remembered at Pelton on P26.01 at South Moor on S129.01 and at West Pelton on W112.01
