Patton, J.T., Pte., 1916
On the Vimy Memorial is the name of 467112 Private John Thomas Patton, serving with the Canadian Infantry who died 27/09/1916.

John Thomas Patton was born in Jarrow, the only child of Thomas and Helen Jane Patton. In 1912, at the age of 19, he emigrated to the province of Saakotchewan in Canada. He enlisted on the 30th July 1915, serving with the 5th Battalion, Canadian Infantry, Saskatchewan Regiment. He was reported missing, presumed dead in the Trenches West of Courcelette on the 27th Sept 1916, at the age of 24. This was part of the Somme Offensive known as the Battle of Thiepval Ridge.

He was a half brother to Charles Henry William Smith
