Thompson, W.E., Chief Steward, 1942
On the Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Chief Steward Wilfred Edgar Thompson, serving with the Merchant Navy who died 01/04/1942.

Husband of Gladys May Thompson.

He was on board H.M.S. Blanco when the ship was torpedoed by an U-boat U-160, commanded by Korvettenkapitän Georg Lassen, she was carrying 6440 tons of iron ore. There was a 40 (19 dead and 21 survivors) complement crew.

Wilfred Edgar Thompson is remembered at Westoe in W101.08 page 85 and on our List of Ships’ crews.
