On the Pozieres Memorial is the name of 7125 then 242797 2nd Lieutenant Charles Joseph Leslie, serving with the 5th Battalion, attached 2nd Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own) who died 24/04/1918.

Charles Joseph Leslie was the eldest son of Charles and Emily Leslie of 'Glenholme' West Avenue, Harton Village, South Shields. (His younger brother was Robert and his elder sister Emily). They were living at 19 Wharton Street in 1901.

Charles was born in the 2nd quarter of 1897 in South Shields.

He was sent to France 2nd July 1916.

He is remembered at Harton on H104.03 and at South Shields on S86.043
