In Shotton Cemetery is a family headstone for Lackenby which reads:

In
Loving Memory of
George
beloved husband of
Elizabeth Lackenby
who died Dec. 25th 1922
aged 53 years
also William
son of the above
who was killed in action
in France May 3rd 1917
aged 21 years.

Olwyn Kell, great niece, reports:

William was, in fact, the son of George by his first wife, Alice, who died. Elizabeth was George's common law wife and they had a daughter called Alice who may have been named after his first wife.

He is remembered in Shotton Colliery on S125.01 and S125.02
