Robert was born in 1898 at Haswell Moor, the son of Robert and Dorothy nee Lackenby Storey. The surname was sometimes recorded as Story.
In 1901 the family were living at Shields Houses Haswell Moor. Robert was a Butcher and had three children Annie (1897) Robert (1898) and Elizabeth J. (1900).
By 1911 the family had moved to 20 North Road East, Wingate and included Thomas (1901) George (1903) William (1905, Janet (1908) and David (1910).
Robert enlisted at Sunderland, joined the Northumberland Fusiliers and died of wounds 5th November 1918.

Mrs Storey of 2 Boyd Street Hesleden has received official news that her son Robert Storey has died in hospital in France. He had only been out about six months and previously worked at Blackhall Colliery.
Recipient of the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
In 1939 Dorothy, by then a widow, was living with George (1903) and Johnson D. (1910) at 13 Boyd Street Hesleden.
