Wilkinson, W.S., 2nd Lieut., 1915

In Eryholme (St. Mary) Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2nd Lieutenant William Septimus Wilkinson, serving with the 4th (Reserve), Battalion, The Prince of Wale's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment) who died 06/09/1915.

William Septimus Wilkinson was born on the 20th September 1895 at Neasham Abbey, the 7th son of Thomas Loyzeleur Wilkinson of Neasham Abbey, and his wife Mary Valentina, daughter of William Alexander, and brother to 2nd Lieutenant Bernard Jocelyn Wilkinson.

He was educated at Richmond School, and Eastbourne College.

Obtained a commission in the 4th West Yorkshire Regiment on the 15th August 1914.

He died in London on the 6th September 1915 from jaundice and complications.

He was a keen athlete, and while at Richmond School held the junior challenge cup for four years.
