Sgt. Collins was serving with 76 Sqdn. He was a crew member of Halifax II V9992 MP-M which crashed over THIRSK, Yorkshire, while returning from an air firing exercise. All seven crew members were killed.

If we are correct, Sgt. Collins was a member of the Hopetown Methodist Church. Our source is a paper written at the time when Methodist churches were closing and being incorporated into the North Road Wesleyan Methodist. The paper records the details on memorials which were in the demolished churches. The reason for possible doubt is that in this document his name is given as “Collings”
