The son of Thomas and Isabel Jane Trattles of Norton-on-Tees. He enlisted at Stockton and died at home on the 23rd June 1918 aged 23. He is buried in Cloughton Church Cemetery, Yorkshire, Grave Reference 876. His name appears in the Book of Remembrance in Stockton Parish Church.

He is remembered in Stockton on S138.18 page 57
