Watson, B.A., 2nd Lieut., 1918
On Vis-en-Artois Memorial is the name of Second Lieutenant Benjamin Alexander Watson, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 24/10/1918.

The Cricket Club memorial Unveiling programme states:

2nd Lieut. B. Watson

Enlisted in the Yorkshire Hussars in May, 1915, and was later attached to the Scots Greys. Proceeding to France in June, 1916, he was wounded in the back, and spent some time in Stoke War Hospital. He returned to France in March, 1917, and was later sent home to train for a Commission. Gazetted in June, 1918, to the Northumberland Fusiliers, he went again to France in July, and was killed by shellfire on October 24th of the same year.
