On the Lee on Solent Memorial is the name of Sub-Lieutenant (A) John Bertram Ganner, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 12/07/1941.

John Ganner was killed in an air crash during working up exercises of the Fleet Air Arm 809 squadron off the Norwegian coast. He died on the 12th July 1941 and is remembered on the Lee-on-Solent Memorial, Hampshire, Bay 2, Panel 6.

HMS Victorious was an illustrious class aircraft carrier built by Vickers Armstrong, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and commissioned on the 14th May 1941. The ship took part in the attack on the German battleship Bismarck on the 27th May 1941.

John Bertram Ganner is remembered at Billingham on B139.01 and in Stockton Parish Church in S138.19a
