In Bergen-op-Zoom War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 124001 Pilot Officer Leslie Newton, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 30/05/1942.

P/O Newton was serving with 156 Squadron. He was a crew member of Wellington III X3598 GT- which took off from Alconbury on a mission to Cologne. The aircraft was shot down with the loss of all the crew.
