In Queensferry Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Surgeon Probationer Hugh John Dingle, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 31/05/1916.

Son of the Rev. Arthur Trehane Dingle and Beatrice Dingle, of Eaglescliffe Rectory, Co. Durham.

Hugh became the house surgeon at the Royal Victoria Infirmary at Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

He lost his life on H.M.S. "Petard." in the Battle of Jutland.
