Wilfred was born in Sunderland on the 1st December 1895 eldest son of William Morton of 47 (the CWGC records number 40) Otto Terrace, Sunderland, a Quantity Surveyor and his wife Evelyn Mary daughter of Lancelot Steel.
Wilfred was educated at Great Ayton, Sunderland and Ackworth.
He was a pupil in his father's office, and had enlisted on the 6th September 1914.
He went to the front on the 19th April 1915, and was wounded and taken prisoner at Hooge, on Whit Monday, was also officially reported to have died whilst a prisoner of War in the Krieg Lazarette, Roeselare on the 30th May 1915 from wounds and was buried at Roeselare.
