Waiter, G.B., C.S.M., 1916

Waiter headstone: Peter Holt

In Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1849 Company Serjeant Major George B. Waiter serving with the Durham Light Infantry who died 26/06/1916.

In Sunderland Mere Knolls Cemetery is a Family Headstone which reads:

In abiding memory of
Robert Waiter,
(Master Mariner)
Dearly loved husband of Barbara Waiter,
who died from the effects of the war
Jan.16.1919, aged 53 years.
Also George, Sergt. Major, 7th D.L.I.
killed in action Jan.25.1916,
aged 21 years.
Also Robert, Pte, 20th D.L.I.
killed in action Nov.22.1916,
aged 25 years.
Dearly loved sons of the above
Faithful to the end.
Also the above Barbara Waiter,
who died March 26.1954,
aged 90 years.
And Hilda Waiter,
who died Oct.26.1984, aged 88 years.
Love’s last tribute.
