Mitchell, J.K, 2nd Lieut., 1918
In Wavans British Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Second Lieutenant James Kinnaird Mitchell, serving with the Royal Air Force who died 10/08/1918.

The Northerner, Vol. XIX, no. 1, December 1918, page 6 reports the following, transcribed by Tony Harding:

'Second-Lieutenant J.K. Mitchell, R.A.F., killed in action on August 10th, son of Mr. G.M. Mitchell, veterinary surgeon of Sunderland. He was educated at the Bede Collegiate and Argyle House Schools, Sunderland, and was a student of the College of Medicine when he joined the Army. He was 19 years of age.'

James Kinnaird Mitchell is remembered at Newcastle on NUT063, at Sunderland on S140.017 and S140.060
