His name is listed in the University of Edinburgh Roll of Honour 1914-1919.

Bede Collegiate School, Sunderland. Student of Arts, 1909-1914; M.A. (Hons. Classics) 1914; Black Scholar. Oxford O.T.C. 6th Royal Scots Fusiliers, 2nd Lieut. Sept. 1914; Lieut. Dec. 1915; Captain March 1916. France. Wounded at the Battle of Loos Sept. 1915. Killed at Martinpuich on 13th August 1916.
