The Sunderland Echo 09/07/1919 reports on people receiving presentations:

Private Geo. Eccles, 13th Batt., The Yorkshire Regt, M.M. At Bullecourt area, on March 24th, 1918, his regiment having lost touch with Brigade Headquarters it was necessary to get into communication with them so that reinforcements could be sent up. Four runners attempted to get through, but did not return, and there was a call for volunteers. Private Eccles volunteered and was successful in getting through the heavy barrage to headquarters, thus saving a critical situation.
