Military Medal for Sunderland N.C.O.
Corporal Skinner, N.F., an old Chester Road schoolboy of Sunderland, has been awarded the Military Medal. Writing to his uncle, Mr. Hall, 8 Western Hill, Sunderland, he says: ‘I got it for tossing bombs at Fritz. God forbid I should boast of so slight an action. The brave deeds done on the field are done by the gallant lads who lay down their lives with a smile.'
