Johnston, William Harold
He lived at Newbottle Street, Houghton-le-Spring. His father, John, was a General Draper and Hosiery Manufacturer. His mother was Emma. There were 2 younger sisters.
William was a pupil at Durham Johnston School
He worked as a Clerk for Inland Revenue.
On active service he was Private, 1st/15th Bn London Regiment (Prince of Wales’ Own Civil Service Rifles). Regtl No 535301. He enlisted into Army Reserve in November 1916, being mobilised in February 1917.
He died on 22/03/1918, aged 19.
