On the Malta Memorial is the name of 1482988 Sergeant Thomas Pennock, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 07/04/1943.

Sgt Pennock was killed when his Spitfire Vb EP567, of 126 Squadron, was lost on a bomber escort mission near Cape Passaro, Sicily. His aircraft was seen to crash into the sea 2 miles south west of Pozzallo, but a search found no trace of him.

Thomas Pennock is remembered at Barnard Castle on B135.19 and at Startforth on S150.01
