William Kirby has submitted the following:-

Vincent Martin was born in 1914.

In 1937 he married Mary Ann R. Simpson in the Chester le Street Registration District.

In 1939 Mary Ann (born 1914) was living at 4 Baytree Terrace, High Hold with possibly her grandmother Mary Ann Ratcliffe (1865).

Vincent joined the Royal Artillery and died 8th November 1944.

Mary Ann added "Greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for others" to his headstone.

Vincent Martin is remembered at West Pelton on W112.03
