Armin, A.M., Sgt., 1944
In Hoogkerk (Kerkstraat) General Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 568867 Sergeant Arthur Meakin Armin, serving with the Royal Air Force who died 23/05/1944.

Sgt. Armin was serving with 57 Sqdn. He was a crew member of Lancaster III NE127 DX-J which took off from East Kirkby on a mission to Braunschweig and was shot down by a night fighter. Five crew were killed and two were taken prisoner.

Lancaster NE127 DX-J had departed East Kirkby at 2223 for Ops Braunschweig It was intercepted at 5000M, 5-10km NW of Groningen by a Night-Fighter captained by Uffz Herbert Beyer (VIII/NJG1) and shot down at 0016 for his 1st Abschuss
