George Robert was the son of Robert and Jane Walker, of North Shields. On 4th July 1914 he married Annie Wright, and had a daughter, Eileen Wright Walker, born 21st February 1917. Their address then was 54 Lancaster Terrace, Chester-le-Street.

George Robert, aged 30 living at Chester-le-Street a Grocer's Traveller enlisted in December 1915. He was 5 feet 7½ inches tall. He served 12 months in Egypt and 4 months in France. He contracted dysentery whilst in service and in February 1919 was granted a pension. His address on discharge was 54 Lancaster Terrace, Chester-le-Street.

Recipient of the British War Medal and Victory Medal.

After his death his wife remarried and her name changed to Westwick of 162, Alexandra Road., Gateshead.
