Charles Dennis was born in 1923, at Sunderland, the son of John William and Anne Rosina nee Robinson, Peary.
He was connected to the 2nd Chester-le-Street (St.Mary's and St. Cuthbert's) Group of Scouts.
Sgt. Peary was serving with 29 O.T.U. He was a crew member of Wellington III BK549 – N which took off from Bruntingthorpe on a Bullseye training exercise. An engine caught fire and the aircraft crashed near Basingstoke killing all 6 crew members.
