In the Lonsdale Cemetery, Authuille, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 6088 Lance Corporal William Mowbray, serving with the York and Lancaster Regiment, who died 16/09/1916.

He had enlisted at York but resided at Chester-le-Street.

He was originally in the 32nd Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers Service No. 32/321.
