William Kirby has submitted the following:-

Matthew born 17th April 1914 was the son of John and Jane Morris of Chester Moor. In the first quarter of 1938 he married Marie Sarah De Smet daughter of Oscar De Smet. They had one child Margaret J Morris born 30th June 1938.

In September 1939 the family were living at 10 Front Street Chester Moor. Matthew was a Colliery Electrical Motorman working above ground.

Matthew joined the 2nd Lothians and Border Horse, Royal Armoured Corps. He died 2nd February 1946.

There is a flower block beside the headstone which reads:-

My Dear
Husband

Marie Sarah married Reuben C. Bennett in 1949.
