He was with the Hartlepool Gun Battery garrison when the town was shelled in World War I.
There were no 'Harbons' killed in WW1 with the initial J. His name is given correctly on C105.04 and C105.40.
His name is given incorrectly as "J. Harbon" on the outdoor memorials in Chester-le-Street C105.01, C105.04, C105.15, except C105.40, and at Wheatley Hill on W114.03, W114.04 and W114.06 at Durham in D47.013b, page 122, but the initial is incorrectly shown as an A.
