In Faubourg d'Amiens Cemetery, Arras, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 27418 Private Walter Brighton, serving with the 8th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment, who died 06/03/1917.

He was born in Wymondham, Norfolk, and had enlisted in Newcastle.

The Chester-le-Street Chronicle 23/93/1917 carries a death notice:-

Brighton - Killed in action March 6th 1917 Private Walter Brighton, East Yorkshire Regt. dearly beloved husband of Mary Brighton of Cottage Homes Ponteland late of Chester-le-Street. "Thy will be done."
