Trotter, J., F/Sgt., 1943
On the Runnymede Memorial is the name of 1087715 Flight Sergeant John Trotter, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 15/08/1943.

William Kirby has submitted the following:

John Trotter was born in 1921, the son of Joseph Trotter who had married Lilian Elliott in 1917.

The memorial in the Chester-le-Street Grammar School shows that he attended there between 1932-1937.

He was on No. 49 Course at the 36 Flying Training School in Penhold, Alberta, from 16th February 1942 till 6th June 1942.

The entry in the National Probate Calendar reads "Trotter, John, of Engine Cottage, Castle Dene, Fence Houses County Durham died on or since 15 August 1943 on war service. Administration Durham 27 June to Joseph Trotter colliery shaftsman. Effects £147 4s. 8d."
