Lamonby, J., Pte., 1916
In Winlaton (St. Paul) Churchyard extension is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1847 Private Joseph Lamonby serving with the Durham Light Infantry who died 21/04/1916.

The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 27/04/1916 reports:-The remains of the late Private Joseph Lamonby D.L.I. of Church Street Winlaton who died on Friday at the Northumberland Military Hospital, were interred yesterday afternoon with military honours in Winlaton Churchyard. The coffin, covered with the Union Jack was borne to the grave by Ptes. Beverley, Finch Britland, Pete, Hollingsworth and Musson of the Sherwood Foresters, a firing party from which was also present under the charge of Sergt. Rust and fired three volleys over the grave. Bugler Maltby sounded the Last Post. The Rev. A Jones rector officiated.
