In Perth Cemetery (China Wall) is the Commonwealth War Grave of 9/1794 Private John Tully, serving with 'A' Company, 1/9th Battalion Durham Light Infantry who died 10/01/1916.

Son of William and Mary Tully, of Newcastle-on-Tyne; husband of Grace Gordon Neil (formelly Tully), of 29, Saltwell Street. Gateshead.

John was an Assistant Scoutmaster in the 22nd Gateshead (St. Cuthbert's Troop) and appears in the Scout Roll of Honour for 1914-18.

He was sent to France on the 20th April 1915.

John was killed by a sniper in trenches between B1 and B7, near to Maple Copse and Canal Dugouts.

John Tully is remembered in Gateshead on G39.004 page 83 and in the DLI Book of Remembrance page 5.
