Thomas was born to his parents Ralph and Jane Ann (nee Bruce) at Washington Co. Durham in 1893. The couple had 8 children but 1 died. The siblings included John George, William, Nellie, Jennie and Ernest.
His father was a superintendent insurance agent in 1901 and by 1911 Thomas had also joined insurance work as a clerk.
Thomas enlisted at Newcastle and was later sent to France where he was killed in action on 1 July 1916 aged 23 years.
At the time of his death the family resided at 7 Beacon Street, Low Fell, Gateshead.
His effects, ie accrued £1. 9. 5d plus £9.0.0 gratuity, were sent to his father, Ralph.

Thomas Henry Moon is remembered at Gateshead on G39.004, at Gateshead Fell on G39.064 and in the Battalion History page 110.
