In Bailleul Road East Cemetery, St. Laurent-Blangy is the Commonwealth War Grave of 25/765 Private George R.L. Black serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 04/06/1917.

In Gateshead East Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

Of your charity pray for the
Repose of the souls of
Thomas,
dearly beloved husband of
Annie A. Black
who died 25th July 1938
aged 66 years.
Also the above
Annie A. Black
who died 25th October 1954
aged 90 years.
Also George R.L. Black
killed in France 4th June 1917.
Also Annie Sober (nee Black)
daughter of the above
died 20th March ?
aged 87 years

He is remembered at Gateshead on G39.004
