In Messines Ridge British Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Captain Percy Hunter Coxon, serving with the Border Regiment who died 13/04/1918.

In Whitley Bay (Hartley South) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

Sacred to the memory of
Thomas Coxon
who died November 8th 1931 aged 69 years.
Also of Mary his wife
who died January 13th 1932 aged 70 years.
Also of Capt. Percy Hunter Coxon their son
who was killed in Flanders
April 13th 1918 aged 25 years.

He resided at Vernon Parade, Gateshead, and was a student at Armstrong College when the war broke out. He obtained his commission in 1914.

Percy Hunter Coxon is remembered in Gateshead on G39.004 and G39.074 in Durham on D47.151 and in Newcastle on NUT063
