The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 22/07/1919 reports:
"Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Stobart, 6 Telford Street, Gateshead, have been officially notified that their eldest son, Pte. M.A. Stobart, 8th D.L.I., who was reported missing on March 31, 1918, is now presumed to have been killed on that date".
He is remembered in Gateshead on G39.004 and in the D.L.I. Book of Remembrance page 67
