In Gateshead East Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:
In loving memory of
my dear husband
Thomas William Speight
died 16th January 1952
aged 63 years.
Also Elizabeth
beloved wife of the above
died 10th Sept. 1969
aged 82 years.
Also our only son
Cpl. George Edward
Little Speight 9th D.L.I.
died of wounds, Catania, Sicily
8th August 1943, aged 26 years.
