In Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, is the Commonwealth War Grave of Second Lieutenant Cyril Holtby Spanton, serving with the Army Service Corps who died 23/11/1918.

He is named in the Scouts First World War Roll of Honour:

Gateshead Spanton, 2Lt. Cyril A. Army Service Corps. Late Patrol Leader 7th Gateshead (St Hilda's) Troop. Died of pneumonia on active service, November 25th, 1918.

He is remembered in Gateshead on G39.004 and G39.011
