In Gateshead East Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

He is also named on the Cummertrees Parish War Memorial in Dumfries & Galloway. The reason seems to be his aunt who lived in Powfoot Village in Cummertrees.

Christian Charles Norgaard – age 27 – Second Lieutenant (124994) "G" 31 Supply Depot, Royal Army Service Corps.

Christian was commissioned from the Officer Producing Centre, R.A.S.C. in March 1940. He was killed when the Dutch troopship “Slamat” and the destroyers Diamond and Wryneck sank as a result of air attacks by Luftwaffe Junkers Ju 87 dive bombers during the evacuation of British, Australian and New Zealand troops from mainland Greece. Commonwealth War Grave – Athens Memorial, Greece.

Also named on the Dunston-on-Tyne War Memorial and on the St. Nicholas with Christ Church memorial in Dunston.

Mrs Rebecca Sanderson Young wife of the late Charles Young of Newcastle and Gateshead died at her daughter's home at 8 Ellerslie, Powfoot. Her two daughters are Mrs Riseborough of Powfoot and Mrs Norgaard of Gateshead. (D&G Standard 22/07/1942 page 3)

He is remembered in Dunston on D38.08 at Dunston Hill on D31.01 and possibly in Newcastle on NUT145 page 26
