Cormack was born in Gateshead 1895 of Irish parents John and Susannah Madden. On 1911 census he was living with his widowed mother and family at 43 Saltmeadows Terrace. He was working as a coal dealer at that time. He was age 15.
As a soldier he arrived in France 20 April 1915. He was wounded at some point (his leg was blown off) and subsequently died of his injuries at Prescot in Lancashire.
Cormack Madden is remembered at Gateshead on G39.004 and in the D.L.I. Book of Remembrance page 301
