Lucas, T.W., Pte. 1916

In Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 3338 Private Thomas William Lucas serving with the 1st/9th Battalion Durham Light Infantry who died 14/02/1916.

In Gateshead East Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving remembrance of
Mary Ann
the beloved wife of James Lucas
died January 12th 1942 aged 72 years.
Also their sons
Private James Edward, 28th Batt. N.F.
died Sept. 18th 1915 Aged 23 years.
Private Thomas William, 9th Batt. D.L.I.
died from wounds received in action
Feb. 14th 1916 aged 22 years.
interred at Lyssenthoek Military
Cemetery, Belgium.
Also the above James Lucas
died May 22nd 1964, aged 63 years
cremated at Middlesbrough.
Robert Lucas
died Sept. 4th 1974 (?1976), aged 71 years.
At rest.

Thomas William Lucas is remembered in Gateshead on G39.004 page 76, and in the D.L.I. Book of Remembrance page 27, and possibly at Gateshead on G39.006 and G39.127
