In Gateshead East Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 948543 Leading Aircraftman (U/T Air Gunner) Norman Lamb serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 16/09/1941.

The headstone reads:-

In loving memory of
Leading Aircraftman Norman Lamb, R.A.F.
The dearly beloved husband of Isabella M. Lamb
accidentally killed on active service
Sept. 16th 1941 Aged 26 years.
