(Formally 2232 Northumberland Cyclist Battalion)
He was the son of Frances and the late James Iley of 61 Bewick Road, Gateshead, was born at Gateshead and was a Draper. Shipcote Lodge was consecrated on 23rd November 1912 and he was the first Initiate on 15th January 1913; Passed 19th February 1913 and Raised on the 19th March 1913. He was killed in action on 29th September 1918 aged 28 and is buried in Ypres Town Cemetery Extension. Grave reference III.D.24.
He was a member of the church choir at St. George’s Church, Gateshead and St.Paul's Church, Alnwick.
Cecil Christopher Iley is remembered in Alnwick on A11.19 and A11.56 page 33, and A11.67, in Gateshead on G39.004, G39.029 and G39.057, in Newcastle on NUT273 and in the Masonic Book of Remembrance
