In Gateshead (Saltwell) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 462814 Leading Aircraftwoman Winifred Hutchison serving with the Women's Auxiliary Air Force who died 16/04/1945.

The headstone reads:-

In loving remembrance of
Our darling daughter
L.A.C.W. Winifred Hutchison, W.A.A.F.
Killed on active service
16th April 1945 aged 24 years
Also Robert Matthew
beloved husband of Elizabeth
died 7th April 1950 aged 58 years.
