Hutchison, J.R., F/Off., 1943

In Gateshead (Saltwell) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 124679 Flying Officer (Air Gunner) James Robert Hutchinson serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 27/10/1943.

The headstone reads:-

In sweet remembrance of
our dearly beloved son
James Robert Hutchison,
Flying Officer A.G., R.A.F.(V.R.)
killed on active service
27th October 27th 1943, aged 26 years
Also Councillor Agnes Hutchison J.P.
Mayoress of Gateshead 1951-52
mother of the above
who died on 4th October 1960
aged 68 years.
