Thomas was the son of Sidney and Elizabeth (nee Emerton). He was born in Darlington about 1888.

The 1911 census shows Thomas living as a boarder with his mother’s family at 5 Seaham Street, Westgate, Newcastle. He was single and working as a cartman in the chemical works.

In 1913 he married Mary Davison who at the time of his death was living at 49 Southey Street, Gateshead.

Thomas died of wounds in Scotland on 28 June 1918. He was 30 years old.

Thomas Cann is possibly remembered at Gateshead on G39.025
