On Chatham Naval Memorial is the name of Lieutenant Collingwood Watchman, serving with the Royal Naval Reserve who died 20/02/1916.

The Illustrated Chronicle 24/02/1916, page 16 reports:
"Bensham Naval Lieutenant's Death.

Acting Lieut. Collingwood Watchman, R.N.R. of Bensham, has been killed as the result of a vessel in which he was serving striking a mine.

Lieut. Watchman served his apprenticeship with the Prince Line Ltd., of Newcastle and was aboard their vessel the Norse Prince, which was destroyed by fire at sea in January 1910, on a voyage from New York to the Cape. He, along with other members of the ship, landed at Ascension Island. He joined the Royal Naval Reserve in March last as sub-lieutenant, and was promoted acting-lieutenant in November."
