In Becklingen War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 754853 Flight Sergeant William Herbert Browell, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 09/05/1941.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

F/Sgt. Browell was killed when Vickers Wellington 1c R3208 of 214 Squadron which was lost on a mission to Hamburg. The Wellington is presumed to have crashed into the sea, with F/Sgt Browell’s body being the only one of the six crew to be recovered.
