The Blaydon Courier 19/07/1919 carries the following:
Brown – Blaydon. 33 Cuthbert Street, reported missing April 11 1918, now presumed died on that date or since, Pte. William Brown, No.66316, C Coy, 1/5 N.F., aged 19 years, dearly beloved son of William and Margaret Brown. Sleep on, dear son, in a far-off grave we may never see; but as long as life and memory last, we will remember thee. Deeply mourned by father, mother, brother, sisters and all his relations, neighbours, and all who knew him. On whose soul, sweet Jesus, have mercy. R.I.P.”
